  Old Testament                                               Isaiah 40

A Prayer Of Comfort

#20--Steps to Peace

Heavenly Father, I thank you for [NAME] and for your love for her.
I know that you are the God of all comfort, Comfort [NAME] daily.

Help [NAME] Lord, to keep her eyes on you, looking up and ahead.
Help her to be freed from the torment of the past and be able to remember the good things in her past.
Let her remember the times when she laughed and played.
Let her remember the fun that she has had.

Lord I believe you are telling me in Isaiah 40:1,  as you told Isaiah those hundred of years ago to "comfort, comfort my people," says your God.

"Speak tenderly to Jerusalem.  Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned.

Yes, the Lord has punished her twice over for all her sins."
I pray that the words I speak to [NAME] would comfort her and encourage her.

Show me Lord what to speak to her.
Fill [NAME] with the power of your love and the power of your comfort.

And Lord do what you did for your people in Isaiah's time,

please do these things  for [NAME].
"Feed  [NAME], for she is part of your flock, You are our shepherd.
Carry [NAME] like a lamb in your arms holding her close to your heart.
Gently lead [NAME].
Lord you keep telling me that you are gentle.  Help us to see the enormity of your gentleness.

Lord, Isaiah 40:28-31 says:
Have you never heard?  Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God the creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

He gives power to the weak, give power to [NAME], and
strength to the powerless, give [NAME] strength.

Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint.

Do this in [NAME]'s life, I beg you, O God.
Increase her faith daily, Lord, increase her faith until all doubt is gone.
Help her to trust you with all of her heart and soul and mind and body.

Lord comfort [NAME] with your words, may she take these words to be her words from you to her:

But as for you [NAME] my servant, my chosen one,
I have called you back from the ends of the earth saying "You are my servant!"
For I have chosen you and will not throw you away.
Don't be afraid, for I am with you.
Don't be discouraged, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you.
I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.

See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated.
Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing.

You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you.

Those who attack you will come to nothing for I hold you by your right hand--I, the Lord your God.

And I say to you, “Don't be afraid, I am here to help you.”

I am doing this so all who see this miracle will understand what it means--
that it is the Lord who has done this, the Holy One of Israel who created it.

We thank you Lord, for caring for us.  We praise you Holy God for hearing our prayers.
Thank you that you are our Father, our Shepherd, our Comforter, and our Savior.
In Jesus mighty name, Amen

With God's love,  Judy
