In 1983 when we moved to Western Meadows, the peace I felt as I walked along the Creek was unbelievably soothing to my soul.  REST, PEACE, QUIET—it was awesome.  As I walked along the creek, I could feel the presence of God.  God’s peace, rest, and quiet saturated my being.  Now, God’s peace is much more than you find along a beautiful creek.  In the Bible it is described as the peace that passes all understanding.  God’s rest comes when we lay down all of our burdens, letting Jesus carry the burdens that were really never ours to carry, and rest.  Rest from all of the striving and working to be good enough to fit in, is what God wants to give each of us.  And the quiet of God—the Bible tells us that in quietness and confidence is our strength.  God’s quietness is quiet on the outside and on the inside knowing that we are in His hands.   We want each of you to experience this rest, peace, and quiet.

I want to tell you a story about sheep.  They have a habit of just taking off, wandering here and there, not aware of the danger lurking behind each bend of the road.  They don’t realize that wolves, mountain lions, fierce storms, rocky cliffs, or deep holes are a part of life.  They are just going and doing, living a life of freedom, free to do whatever they want to do.  Little do they know that this freedom will eventually bring them to a deadly trap.

A good shepherd knows exactly how many sheep he has and continually has a sharp eye out for his stray lambs.  When he finds a lamb has strayed, he will leave his entire flock and go and look for the stray.  When he finds it, often it is weak or hurt.  The shepherd will pick up this precious lamb and carry it back to the flock.  The shepherd will carry the lamb until it is strong enough to walk on his own.

Finding Jesus’ lost sheep and helping them to get well is a huge part of what Western Meadows is all about.  Jesus brought me back to the flock over thirty years ago, and I found that it was sooooooo good to be near God that I never strayed again.  We hope you too; will find that it is good to be near God.

This story is told in the Bible.  Jesus told stories to explain his character.  Ladies, this is how Jesus is with each of us.  Perhaps you have been a wandering sheep.  You have ended up in the company of those who want to kill you and you have been hurt, deeply.  Perhaps the places you have been have caused you to stumble and fall—and this has also caused you pain.  Having been tossed here and there by the winds of life, perhaps it seems like your life is one great big storm.  Just add up and up and up all of the pain and aches in your life, your heart may feel broken.

Jesus knows how badly you hurt.  Jesus wants to pick you up and carry you, heal you, restore you.  He wants you to come back to His flock.

The Bible tells us to be still and know that I AM GOD.  We want you to quiet your hearts, and listen for that still small voice of God.  God is the God of all Comfort; He is the God of grace, mercy, and love.  His words to you are always those of welcome back.

Sure, we all have done wrong things.  Many of us could fill a book with all the wrong things we have done.  There are so many great things about God, but this attribute is so important to us who feel like we have blown it.  Listen and please don’t forget it—GOD DOESN’T GIVE US WHAT WE DESERVE!  GOD FORGIVES.  GOD NEVER CONDEMNS HIS GIRLS!  HE IS OUR DADDY AND HE WANTS TO LOVE US, DANCE WITH US, HOLD US ON HIS LAP AND TELL US WE ARE BEAUTIFUL.  HE WANTS TO FIX WHAT WE HAVE MESSED UP!

Please enjoy all that we have prepared for you in this section.  We are here to help you with your relationship with Jesus Christ.  We are here to teach you the Bible.

Are you tired and just need some peace?
Have you been wandering from God,
do you hate your life,
are you ready for a change?
YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!

Some can make Christianity sound so complicated.  It isn’t and doesn’t have to be.  For starters let us say this.  God told Jeremiah to tell the people three things:

    Tell them to STOP SINNING
Tell them that I AM GOD ALMIGHTY
Tell them to LISTEN TO GOD

SIN

Sin is ugly.  God hates sin, but he loves each of us, the sinners.  Repentance is not an ugly word.  It is wonderful.  It is a privilege given only to God's kids.  When we repent we are forgiven.  When we are serious about changing our life and acknowledge to God we need to change and live his way, then he forgives and forgets our sins.  God is gracious.  It means when we sin, our gracious God does not give us what we deserve, he instead forgives, lavishes us with love, and points us in the right direction.  We want to show you the incredible blessings that come with living a repentant lifestyle.  We want you to know the freedom that repentance brings.

I AM GOD ALMIGHTY

God is God and we are not.  God is the boss, he is Lord Almighty.  He is the Creator of heaven and earth.  God is love, he is gracious, merciful, forgiving.  God is all-knowing and all-powerful.  God is in control.  God is generous.  God is just.  That is just the beginning of this incredible God Almighty that has created us, called us by name, and wants to spend eternity with us in heaven.

LISTEN TO GOD

God wants to have a relationship with us.  Over and over God begs his people to listen to him and let him direct their lives.  God has a plan for our lives, a plan to bring us good not harm, a plan with a future and a hope.  There is only one way to receive all that God wants to give each of us.  That is by getting on the highway of Romans 12:1-2 which tells us to not be conformed to the world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds.  God wants to give us the best, but we only get his best for our unique life when we have totally yielded our lives to his will.

The Bible is the primary way that God speaks to us.  And anything that he directs us to do is always, totally in line with what the Bible says.  What the Bible calls sin, God always calls sin.  The word of God is living and active, each time you pick it up expect God to reveal himself to you within these pages.

If you have been that wandering sheep and are ready to come back be assured Jesus is ready and willing to receive you.   Just pray right now. Here is a  prayer of salvation and a prayer of recommitment, you can use as a guide.  Please scroll sideways in this section and find more of God's glorious words of hope, comfort, love, and encouragement.

WELCOME BACK WAYWARD SISTER, WE LOVE YOU—BUT EVEN MORE JESUS LOVES YOU.  HE REALLY DOES!
