THE WISDOM OF GOD IS CALLING TO YOU
"I wisdom called you so often, but you wouldn’t come. I reached out to you, but you paid no attention."
Let’s stop and look at these two sentences. God’s wisdom often calls to each of us, but many won’t come. God’s wisdom reaches out to each of us, but many pay no attention.
ARE YOU IGNORING GOD?
The next part of the verse says: "You ignored my advice and rejected the correction I offered."
People are proud. People are unteachable. People do not want to be told what to do! People want to do it ‘their’ way. When life is going great many think it is because they are so smart, so strong, or so much better; but these same people can curse God when life gets rough.
So again what does God say? He says that his wisdom calls to us often. God’s wisdom reaches out to us. But many of us ignore and reject God’s help.
Now for a very sobering reality check for each of us! If we have lived life ignoring God’s advice and correction; this verse says that God’s wisdom will laugh at us when we are in trouble, God’s wisdom will mock us when disaster overtakes us. There comes a time when we call for help and God’s wisdom will no longer answer. There is a time when the human heart cannot find God.
These verses should put the fear of God in all of us! There is a point in time, only God knows when, in each person’s heart when it is to late to receive what God wants to give.
YOU ARE FREE TO CHOOSE OR REJECT GOD’S WISDOM
Yes, God’s kindness leads to repentance. Yes, God is patient not wanting anyone to perish. But some people just won’t listen-ever! These verses are directed to that group of people. Because you are reading this, you are not in that group. Obviously, you are looking for answers. Many of us are hard headed for a time and then when we ‘bottom out’ we turn to God.
God sees your heart and He wants to help you. He wants you to listen. He wants to spend time with you so that He can make you wise. God does not want any to perish. God does not want to punish anyone. God wants everyone to listen to Him. After all, because of love God sent his son Jesus to earth to die for us. God is clear that He wants all to come to Him. He wants everyone in heaven. If you are reading this it is not to late to turn to God, to listen to God or to find God.
However, God has given each of us a free will. Free to turn from God. Free to ignore God. Free to ignore God’s advice and free to reject God’s correction. And now for the rest of the story;
There are consequences to all of our actions. The consequences to turning from God, ignoring God’s advice and rejecting His correction are devastating!
AN OLD TESTAMENT EXAMPLE OF LOSING THROUGH IGNORING GOD
We see this principle in the wilderness journey with Moses. God tells them it’s to late, I am not giving you another chance. It is to late and you have lost the hope of entering the promised land. God left a million people wandering in the wilderness for the rest of their lives. He fed them and kept them clothed, but they missed the promised land.
I heard a wonderful sermon by a young, humble pastor. He talked of Philippians 2 and that someday every knee will bow and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord. He stressed the fact that those who rejected Jesus while on this earth will bow their knee and acknowledge that Jesus is Lord. How unbelievable that those that are in hell for eternity will know that they are there because they made a wrong choice. They will know that Jesus was truly all He said He was and that by their own act of rebellion chose hell.
GOD WANTS TO BLESS YOU. IT’S NOT TO LATE TO TURN TO HIM.
God truly desires the best for us. He truly has a plan for us–a plan for good and not for evil–a plan to give us a hope and a future.
It is tragic that because of prideful hardheadedness many will miss God’s plan.
Because we choose to listen and fear God or ignore and reject God we determine the abundance or lack of God’s blessings, protection, grace, and mercy in our lives.
We determine where we will spend eternity.
IT IS OUR CHOICE!
