Genesis 1-2:25

GETTING TO KNOW JESUS
Applying God's Creation To Christian's Today
Just wanted to take a few moments and apply Genesis 1-2:25 to the Christian life. Jesus Christ told his disciples that the world would know who were his disciples because they had love one for another. Jesus’ teachings can be simply summed up–LOVE GOD, LOVE OTHERS!
GOD CALLED HIS CREATION GOOD
Look again at verses 4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25, and 31. What God created He called good. At the end of the creation of earth and humankind He called what He had done as very good.
Precious people, each of us was created in the image of God and God has declared that what He created was very good.
We may not make good choices and we may act in incredibly inappropriate ways. We may not even realize that God created us very good–but God said it, created you, and it happened just like He said.
You my precious friend were created very good. God said it and I believe it.
A REALITY CHECK FOR CHRISTIANS
Pride is the attitude of exalting oneself above others. As Christians it is a sin if we consider another person as less than us. Christian community, you are not better than ANYONE!!!!
As Christians it is sin, the sin of pride and self-exaltation to think any of God’s creation is junk! God says that each person created is something very good. In God’s eyes there are no scum bags, no derelicts, no worthless people. I don’t care where they have been, what they have done, or what they look like God says they are His creation and as His creation they are of value. Even more, God loves everyone unconditionally.
Each human being is created in the image of God. God says that each person He created is of great worth.
Precious Christians, God said his creation is very good. We must see what He sees; we must see that what He created was very good.
If we are to be like Christ we must love God’s creation. Jesus says that the world will know who his disciples are because they have love one for another.
Love others precious brothers and sisters in Christ. That is who we are to be.
WHAT DID GOD DO FROM THE BEGINNING?
In the beginning God____________.
Let’s run through this first chapter and see what God did from the beginning.
- Genesis 1:1 – God created the heavens and the earth.
In the first verse of Bible we are introduced to two parts of the trinity.
(Father, Son, Holy Spirit)
The Spirit of God was from the beginning.
-
Genesis 1:3 – God said, “Let there be light and there was light.”
-
Genesis 1:4 – God saw that the light was good.
- Genesis 1:5 – God called the light day.
And that marked the first day, evening past and morning came.
Now, just think about it, does it say that the first day was 24 hours?
Could it have been longer? Could it have been much longer?
Could the first day have been 10,000 hours?
Just something to think about.
-
Genesis 1:6 – God said, Let there be a space…
- Genesis 1:7 – God made this space.
In two days God let light be made,
He separated the light from the dark.
God let a space be created between the waters of heaven and the waters of earth.
He called the space ‘sky.’
- Genesis 1:9 – God said, “let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened.
-
Genesis 1:10 – God called the dry ground, ‘land.’
- Genesis 1:11 – Then God said, “Let the land sprout…." And these are the details for the vegetation:
A...every sort of seed bearing plant
B...trees that grow seed bearing fruit
C...seeds will produce their own kind
-
Genesis 1:14 – Then God Said, “Let there be lights in the sky. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days and years."
- Genesis 1:15 – Let these lights shine down on the earth.
And the details:
A...to govern the day and night
B...to separate the light from the darkness.
-
Genesis 1:20 – Then God said, “Let the waters swarm with life"
-
Genesis 1:20 – Then God said, “Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind…."
-
Genesis 1:21 – So God created every living thing in the water and every sort of bird–each producing offspring of the same kind.
-
Genesis 1:24 – Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind."
-
Genesis 1:26 – Then God said, “Let US, make human beings in OUR image, to be like US. They will reign over the fish, the birds, the livestock, the wild animals, and the small animals." ( God wasn’t alone)
-
Genesis 1:27 – God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED!
Now, if we go back through this chapter we can see the phrase, “That is what happened,” in verses 7, 9, 11, 15, and 30.
To make it simple, “What God says to be done, happens.”
GOD CREATED, SAID, SAW, AND CALLED FROM THE BEGINNING
Now from the beginning we read here that God created, God said, God saw, and God called. In the beginning God was busy. We can hurry through this chapter and make it simplistic, and for God perhaps it was simple, for nothing is impossible with Him. Just one itty bitty example: For a cowgirl, it can be hard letting the water flow so dry ground may appear. After a hard rain, have you spent hours draining your horse pens so that dry ground may appear? I have never been able to say, “Let dry ground appear, and let the water flow away!”
Having just experienced a two inch rain in twenty four hours, mud is on my mind. But God said and it happened just as he said.
