In God's plan, the role of the father in a family is vital.  The father becomes a role model for his children.  Very often, a child will grow up thinking that God is similar in character to his earthly father.  If a father is strict and unloving, then a child often believes that God, our Heavenly Father, is harsh and uncaring too.  The more a father resembles the character of Jesus Christ, the better understanding a child will have of God.  Jesus Christ was a man's man.  He wasn't a wimp!  He willingly died to help others.  He stood for what was right no matter what others thought.  He never sold out.  He was a man of few words, but what He said was mighty and important.  He was a man of integrity, and completed the job God gave Him to do.

•     It is so important for each of us to know God and to know what He says about us in the Bible.

We are just getting started with our branch for men.  However, all of the Bible studies that have been done for women, and all the articles that have been written for the women apply to us also.

For me, the easiest way to learn is by listening.  We have a hyperlink on this page to hook you to our home churches.  We have two home churches because we spend our winters in Arizona.  I rope nearly every day while we are in Arizona and we enjoy life.  Calvary Phoenix is our home church and Mark Martin is one of the best teachers I have ever sat under.  Eric, our pastor in Colorado Springs, is younger but also very good.  Both men love God, love people, and are committed to teaching the Bible.

I have bought an iPod and download the sermons from Eric and Mark.  As I clean stalls, or work the arena I often listen to them.  I encourage each of you to do the same.  I learn by listening more than by reading, so this works great for me.  Please do this.

It is important for each family to find a church home.  It is the responsibility of the father to do this.  According to the Bible, the father is the spiritual head.  God will hold each and every father responsible for the job he has done, whether it be good or bad.  If you don't know what to look for in a church we encourage you to get on the websites of our churches and see what they are like.

The most important things to look for are:

 

•     They believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

•     They preach and teach the Bible.  People take their Bibles to church and are encouraged to open them and read them.

•     They love—that unconditional love, that will help us to be families of integrity and honor.

•     They hold us accountable, but accept and encourage us.

•     They forgive as Jesus forgave.

•     They teach that we all sin and that repentance is necessary in everyone's life.

•     They know we aren't perfect, but expect each of us to try hard to live right.

•     The church has an atmosphere of freedom.  You want to be there.

•     The church is not bound by an endless stream of rules and regulations.

•     The church is a safe place. You sense it is a safe place for your kids and wife.

•     The church leaders are men of integrity who love Jesus Christ.
