God's Forgiveness For Your Sins

#9--Steps to Peace

King David, committed adultery with Bathsheba and she became pregnant.  Bathsheba's husband was one of David's mightiest warriors. To try and cover up his sin David had Uriah the Hittite, Bathsheba's husband, killed in battle.

The baby conceived that night died at birth.  David had to have blamed himself for the death of that baby, as well as the  premeditated death of  an innocent man that had been  faithful to him. 

​

This is the Psalm that David wrote when his sins had been found out.  I am going to pray the whole Psalm for you, not knowing which will speak  to you,  but God knows.

 

I have never met a person that wasn’t sorry for some of the things they had done in their lives. 

Many people carry around a huge amount of guilt. 

Many people condemn themselves and think that God must condemn them also.

God does not want any of us living under condemnation and guilt. Romans 8:1-2 tells us that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.  The Lord will convict us of sin, until we have repented and turned to Him. 

​

The feelings and attitudes of guilt, condemnation and refusal to receive forgiveness are not from God.  So many of us don’t think we deserve to be forgiven and we live as though forgiveness is not a possibility for us. 

​

My heart cries out to God to rescue you from guilt.  I pray you will not let yourself get under a pile of condemnation and that you will receive the forgiveness that Jesus came to give each of us. Only God knows how to deliver you.  I am so sorry that you have thought you had to carry these burdens.

Psalm 51
Have mercy on [NAME], O God, because of Your Unfailing Love.
Because of Your Great Compassion, blot out the stain of [NAME]'s sins.
Wash [NAME], cleanse her from her guilt.
Purify [NAME] from her sin.
 

For [NAME] recognizes her rebellion; it haunts her day and night.
Against You and You alone have we sinned; we have done what is evil in Your sight.
You will be proved right in what You say, and Your judgment against us is just.
For we were born sinners, yes from the moment our mother's conceived us.
But You desire honesty from the womb, teaching us wisdom even there.
 

Purify us from our sins, and we will be clean.
Wash us, and we will be whiter than snow.
 

Oh, give [NAME] back her joy again;
You have broken her, now let her rejoice.
Do not keep looking at her sins.
Remove the stain of her guilt.
 

Create in [NAME] a clean heart, O God. 

Renew a loyal spirit within her.
Do not banish [NAME] from Your presence, and do not take your Holy Spirit from her.
Restore to [NAME] the joy of Your salvation, and make her willing to obey You.
 

Then [NAME] will teach Your ways to rebels, and they will return to You.
Forgive us for shedding blood, O God who saves; then we will joyfully sing of Your forgiveness.
Unseal [NAME]'s lips O Lord, that her mouth may praise You.
You do not desire a sacrifice, or [NAME] would offer one. 

You do not want a burnt offering. 
The sacrifice You desire is a broken spirit. 

You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.

Look with favor on Zion and help her; rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.  Then You will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit--with burnt offerings and whole burnt offerings.  Then bulls will again be sacrificed on Your altar.

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen
