WESTERN MEADOWS

New Testament
God is the God of all Power. He is God Almighty. Nothing is impossible for God. God created the heavens and the earth and holds it all together by his power. God’s power can give us everything we need for truly living a good life.
Over the fourth of July, we went to western New York and visited Niagara Falls. It was so incredible. It is told that 750,000 gallons of water fall every second over these falls. Pretty unbelievable. A picture can’t grasp the enormity and the power that they possess. And God, created them, simply, by the word of His mouth. Niagara Falls is just one example in nature that God has given us to show a portion of His power.
In our everyday world it is so easy to put God in a box, and most often it is a very small box. With our finite minds we limit what He can do. But if we would just take the Bible for what it says and believe that God is able to do anything He wants, we would all be changed.
By God’s power, He wants to give each of us everything we need for truly living a good life. As you read through these verses realize that it isn’t to hard for God to make something very beautiful out of our lives. He wants to do it if we let Him and work with Him
Some great verses that tell about God’s giving are found in 2 Peter 1:2-11.
May God bless you with his special favor and wonderful peace. As you come to
know Jesus, our God and Lord, better and better. As we know Jesus better, His
divine power GIVES US EVERYTHING we need for living a godly life. He has called
us to receive his own glory and goodness!
And by that same mighty power, He has given us all
of His rich and wonderful promises.
He has promised that you will escape the decadence
all around you caused by evil desires and
that you will share in His divine nature.
So make every effort to apply
the benefits of these promises
to your life. Then your faith
will produce a life of moral excellence.
Some think if you have a six figure income, then you can have it all. Well, it just depends on what ‘all’ is to you. A six figure income can’t buy peace, nor can it buy God’s favor. A six figure income can’t buy God’s glory and goodness! A six figure income can’t buy God’s promises and no amount of money can keep you from the rottenness of the world. Six figure incomes buy you things, things, and more things. Six figure incomes can make your life comfortable and make you look really, really good. Six figure incomes can take you many places, but they can’t take you to heaven. As my Daddy use to say, “there are just some things money can’t buy.”
Greed is an overwhelming sin in our country. Each and everyone of us at one time or the other can be consumed with ‘having it all.’ Everywhere we turn there is high dollar advertising, (brain washing really) to convince us that we need all the toys and the things of the world. The advertising tells us that when we have these things we will be forever young, skinny, smart, and happy. The advertisers lie because they don’t really care about you or me—all they want is to get you to buy more of their product so that they can get rich and buy it all.
So, we live in this crazy mixed up rat race. People trying to convince other people that they need more things so we all can have everything. Another crazy thing is that every day some creative sort of person comes up with a new expensive thing that we need to have it all. There is never an end.
Let’s STOP and take a look around. We all love nice things. We want nice things for our families. But when is it enough and will we realize before it is too late that six or even seven figure incomes can’t buy the things we so desperately need.
Look again at 2 Peter 1—EVERYTHING WE NEED FOR LIVING A GODLY LIFE. So what do we really need?
We need a savior!
We need someone to rescue us out of the rottenness of life.
Through Jesus Christ we all can be saved.
We need each other. We need healthy relationships.
When we make every effort to apply God’s principles to our life,
then we will truly love others and turn lose of ‘it’s all about me.’
We need peace, peace of mind.
In his last talk to his disciples, Jesus promises peace.
We need hope, hope for the future. There is always hope in Jesus.
Everyone needs another chance.
God forgives and is the God of second, third,
and as many chances as we need to get it right.
We need purpose and to be useful.
Spiritual maturity makes us useful for God.
Jesus wants to give us everything we need for living a truly good life. But each of us have a responsibility before we can receive ‘everything.’
-
We must get to know Jesus better and better.
-
We must make every effort to apply God’s Word to our lives. Simply, it means doing and believing what the Bible says.
- Each of us have a responsibility in our spiritual lives; it doesn’t just happen. Salvation is a free gift and we can’t work for that, but spiritual maturity is a process. Whatever we lack in our lives, is because of our refusal to get to know Jesus and our refusal to apply the principles of the Bible.
The way to truly have ‘IT ALL’ is through Jesus Christ. He is the giver of life. Through Him comes every good and perfect gift. Let us seek to have a true and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ by truly getting to know Him better and better. Let us not be satisfied with a casual acquaintance with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. In His power lies the true secret of life and having it ‘ALL’.
