  New Testament

So ever since we first heard about you we have kept on PRAYING and
ASKING God to help you understand what he wants you to do;
ASKING Him to make you wise about spiritual things; and
ASKING that the way you live will always please the Lord and honor Him,
SO THAT you will always be doing good, kind things for others,
while all the time you are learning to know God better and better.
We are PRAYING, too, that you will be FILLED with His mighty, glorious strength
SO THAT you can KEEP GOING no matter what happens—always full of the joy of the Lord, and always thankful to the Father who has MADE us fit to share
all the wonderful things that belong to those who live in the Kingdom of light.
For He has RESCUED us out of the darkness and gloom of Satan’s kingdom and
BROUGHT us into the Kingdom of his dear Son,
who BOUGHT our freedom with his blood and FORGAVE us all our sins.

Colossians 1:9-14

What is the purpose of Studies from Western Meadows?

In 1980, the Lord gave me a nice bay mare named GG, short for God’s Gift.  She reminded me of God’s love, faithfulness, and trustworthiness.  When we ran barrels, I truly felt the joy of the Lord.  G.G. was a horse with heart.  She always tried her best to do what I asked.

Since then I have had many barrel horses; some bigger, some quicker, some smarter, some prettier, some faster; but none have had her heart.  And none of them have been winners.  God wants his people to be like GG; have a lot of heart and never quit trying to please Him.  When we are wholeheartedly trying to please and serve God we will be eternal winners.

Even the horses with the biggest hearts have to be trained.

Even if we want to please God with all of our hearts, we have to be trained in righteousness.  We once had a border collie that really wanted to please.  But the dog’s owners, my husband and I, failed to train him.  I often felt sorry for the dog as he ran in circles trying with all of his physical strength to do something to help.  He didn’t understand what we wanted.

Do you ever wonder if you are doing the right thing or feel like you are running in circles?  We at Western Meadows believe there are many good people in this world that want to please God, but haven’t been taught what that means.  Anxiety, stress, and burn out often occurs because people try so hard.  God has a better plan for you.  He wants to give you light burdens and rid you of anxiety and stress.  He wants to fill you with His peace and His joy.

Please read the awesome promise in 2 Peter 1:2-4“Do you want more and more of God’s kindness and peace?  Then get to know Him better.  For as you know Him better, He will give you, through His great power, everything you need for living a truly good life.”

Our desire at Western Meadows is for every cowboy and cowgirl to have everything they need for living a truly good life!  We want you to give God your whole heart so that you might be eternal winners.  God will give you all you need for living a truly good life if you learn to know Him better.

We have worked to put out this newsletter, Bible studies, and devotions so that you can know God better.  We want to help and encourage you to be all that God created you to be.

Paul prayed these verses (Colossians 1:9-14) for the church of Colosse.  They are so awesome that we have prayed them for the world of cowboys for the last 15 years.

Let’s look closer at them for a moment.

In our prayers for the world of cowboys we have asked God to do many things for you.  A few that these verses mention are:

1.    Asking God to help you understand what He wants you to do.

2.    Asking God to make you wise about spiritual things.

3.    Asking God that your lives would please and honor God.

So that you will do kind and good things for others...

So that you will be getting to know God better and better...

4.    Asking that you will be filled with God’s mighty, glorious strength.

So that you can keep going no matter what happens...

So that you will always be filled with the joy of the Lord...

So that you will always be thankful to God because...

5.    He has made each of us fit to share all of God’s blessings.

6.    He has rescued us from the darkness and gloom of Satan.

7.    He has brought us into the Kingdom of God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

And Jesus bought this freedom from Satan with his blood...

And Jesus forgave us all our sins...

Pretty Cool, what God wants for us isn’t it?  We pray you will open your heart and receive what God wants to give you.
