"A wise woman builds her home, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down."  ​

Proverbs 14:1

 

In this verse our loving Father tells us how to build our home.  It is to be built on the wisdom of God.  Having a home and family is very important to many women.  God wants our homes to be the best they can be.  The Bible tells us straight and to the point that homes are built on and by the truth of God.  The best thing we can do to keep our homes together is to become wise women.  That happens by each of us becoming students of the Bible. It is simple not complicated lest there be any confusion.

If you want your home to be strong then you must make the choice to learn God’s Word and to treasure it in your heart.  God blesses obedience and He will bless you when you obey this verse.

My very precious women, God warns us of the consequences of ignoring him.  Even if we are trying with all of our heart, if it isn’t God’s way of trying, we are destroying our home.  I tell you this, to urge you to find out what is God’s way.  Find out the right way to build a home.  God gives us his instructions and wants to guide us.  He wants our homes to be built up.

The Bible tells us the hard things in hopes that we will turn from our own way and follow God.  Proverbs 14:1 is not saying that it is the woman’s fault that marriages fail.  Marriage is a partnership, it takes two.  However, too often we blame the other partner for problems.  If we are honest with God, with gentleness and specific instruction God will show us where we need to change. God will show you what attitudes, choices, and actions have hurt your home.

We do not enter marriage wanting it to fail.  Because of not dealing with the sins in our life a marriage can fail. Sin causes many problems.  Sins harden our hearts making us callous to the leading of the Holy Spirit.  If we cherish sin, God doesn’t hear our prayers.  If we are angry and sin we give the devil opportunity to deteriorate all relationships.  Sins always have costly consequences.  They hurt many people and grieve God.

One of the biggest problems in any relationship and particularly in marriages is a four letter word SELF.  So often either the wife or the husband becomes consumed with selfishness, self-consciousness, or self pity. It is not all about ‘me’.  That attitude destroys relationships.

Because your bread and butter seem to depend upon performance in the arena, it is easy to get your focus on success and perfection.  We can push our husbands to make as many rodeos as possible and to perform better and better.  We are foolish if we allow the anxiety, pressures, and circumstances of rodeo to control us.  We are foolish if we allow our husband’s weaknesses and emotions to control us.  We sin.

God knows how hard it is to live.  Jesus was tempted just like we are.  Jesus came and died so that we might live.  On his last night on earth Jesus told his disciples that He would send the comforter, the Holy Spirit.  When we truly accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, then the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us.  When we have the Holy Spirit we have the glory of God living in us.  This Holy Spirit gives us the same power that raised Christ from the dead.  Many Christians have little idea of this most glorious gift that God gives us.  We ignore it, and it is as if the Spirit is dormant within us.  Ephesians 3:20 tells us that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than anything we can think or imagine by the power that is at work within us.  You see, when we allow God’s power to work in our hearts and lives—anything absolutely anything is possible. We must repent of grieving the Holy Spirit and ask God to fill us to overflowing with Him.

God blesses his children and he blesses his obedient children who obey out of love. God often withholds or withdraws blessings to get our attention.

We at Western Meadows believe that many of the troubles and trials in the world of rodeo are the consequences of cowboys, cowgirls, and spouses turning their backs on God.  Let us repent and turn to God with all of our hearts.  Let us repent of our sins and turn to God so that our sins may be wiped away.  Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and He will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah. (Acts 3:19-20)
