Psalms & Proverbs

"You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.  Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!  Your workmanship is marvelous—and how well I know it.  You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.  You saw me before I was born.  Every day of my life was recorded in your book.  Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.  How precious are your thoughts about me, O God!  They are innumerable! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!  And when I wake up in the morning, you are still with me!" (Psalm 139:13-14)

How incredible to know that no matter what the circumstances of your conception, you weren’t a mistake.  God planned and designed you.  You are a product of His marvelous workmanship.

I read a newspaper article where a painting had been stored in a dark, dingy warehouse for many years.  The warehouse was going to be remodeled and all of the contents were to be sold.  A man saw the painting covered in dirt, and in need of the right kind of attention. He bought the painting for a small amount.  He took it to an expert in restoration of artwork.  When that work was completed, the painting was displayed with the appropriate lighting in the owner’s home.  Many people enjoyed the painting.  The owner of the painting just liked the artwork.  However, one day someone recognized the unique talent of the painting and knew that it was painted by a very famous artist.  Then the owner of the painting realized that what he had enjoyed was of enormous value.  The painting was a masterpiece.  This painting was worth millions because of the one who created it.

You are priceless because of your creator.

He made you wonderfully complex.

His workmanship in you is marvelous.

Maybe you have been like the painting; hanging around in the dark, dingy places of the world.  Maybe you have let the sin of the world dirty you.  No one that you know may value you.

Do you realize that you are a masterpiece created by the God of the universe?  Jesus wants you to come out of the dark. Let Him, the Great restorer make you like new.  Jesus wants you to know that God delights in you. (Psalm 37:23)  Instead of being dirtied by the world, Jesus wants you to shine out in the world like the stars in the night sky. (Philippians 2)  Jesus wants to cleanse you of every sin that has crept into your life.   (1 John 1:9)  God wants to fill you with His love, God wants others to appreciate your uniqueness.

Because God is your creator, you are priceless;
a masterpiece of infinite worth.
You were made wonderfully complex.
God’s workmanship in you is marvelous.

Psalm 139:13-14
